## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT AND CREW DEPARTED 89AK AT 1030 AK LCL TIME FOR SIGHTSEEING ALONG THE KNIK RIVER. CURRENT PAAQ ATIS WAS REPORTING 8 KNOTS WIND. THE PILOT CONDUCTED SEVERAL GRAVEL BAR LANDINGS ALONG THE KNIK RIVER. THE PILOT STATED THE WINDS INCREASED IN VELOCITY AND GUSTS AS THE FLIGHT PROGRESSED EASTERLY UP THE KNIK VALLEY. ON THE ACCIDENT LANDING, TOUCNDOWN WAS UNEVENTFUL. UPON TAILWHEEL TOUCH DOWN, A GUST OF WIND FORCED A GROUND LOOP AND SUBSEQUENT INVERSION OF AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC26LA028](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC26LA028), Apr 22, 2026: Piper PA-18-150 (N4136E), Palmer, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll in gusting wind conditions, which resulted in a ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
