## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT, PRACTICING X-WIND TAKE-OFFS AND LANDINGS, HAD WIND BLOWING FROM THE LEFT, REPORTED TO BE BETWEEN 10-14 KTS. PILOT LINED UP ON THE RUNWAY. POWER WAS FIRMLY PUSHED IN AND AIRCRAFT BEGAN ROLLING. SHORTLY AFTER THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO ROLL AND SLOWLY PICKING UP MOMENTUM, IT BEGAN TO VEER TO THE LEFT. PILOT NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE RUNWAY SURROUNDINGS OPTED TO ALLOW THE AIRSPEED TO PICK UP, BEFORE REDUCING POWER. AIRCRAFT CLOSER TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY...PILOT REALIZING HE COULD NOT STRAIGHTEN OUT THE AIRCRAFT, PULLED POWER BACK AND BEGAN SLOWLY ADDING BRAKING. BRAKING WAS SLOWING AIRCRAFT DOWN, BUT THE DOWNHILL SLOPE LEFT OF THE RUNWAY BOUNDARY BEGAN TO BECOME STEEPER, MORE OF AN INCLINE DOWN HILL. HE FOUND HIMSELF TRYING TO KEEP THE AIRCRAFT FROM COASTING AND THEN SAW THE CONCRETE DITCH THAT THE AIRPLANE WAS COASTING TOWARDS. WITH SLOW MOTION AND THE BRAKES ON, HE SAW THE AIRCRAFT SLOWLY NOSE OVER FORWARD AND STOP. THE PROP HAD CONTACT WITH THE CONCRETE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
