## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 1, 2026, A CHAMPION CITABRIA (7ECA) SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE FOLLOWING A RUNWAY EXCURSION AND NOSE-OVER DURING LANDING AT MANHATTAN REGIONAL AIRPORT (MHK). WHILE CONDUCTING PATTERN WORK ON RUNWAY 21, THE PILOT NOTED THAT AIRCRAFT BEGAN WEATHERVANING TO THE RIGHT, PROMPTING APPLICATION OF LEFT RUDDER. AS THE AIRCRAFT DECELERATED, RUDDER EFFECTIVENESS DECREASED, REQUIRING THE USE OF DIFFERENTIAL BRAKING TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL. THE RESULTING CONTROL INPUTS CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO ROLL LEFT, LEADING TO A WINGTIP STRIKE. THE AIRCRAFT SUBSEQUENTLY DEPARTED THE RUNWAY AND NOSED OVER, SUSTAINING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER, LEFT MAIN TIRE, LEFT MAIN WHEEL ASSEMBLY, AND BOTH WINGS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
