## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING LANDING AND NEAR THE GROUND, WITH ASOS REPORTED CALM WINDS, THE PILOT STATED THAT HE SEEMED TO BE EXPERIENCING A TAIL WIND. HE NOTICED THAT WE WAS ABOUT TO TOUCH DOWN AT A FASTER GROUND SPEED THAN HE INTENDED. HE APPLIED FULL POWER IN AN ATTEMPT TO EXECUTE AN GO AROUND. INSTEAD OF CREATING THE TAKE OFF LIFT THAT HE NEEDED, THE POWER APPLICATION RESULTED IN AN EVEN FASTER GROUND SPEED THAT THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN AT.

UPON TOUCH DOWN, HE STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT DUCKWALKED, BOUNCING BETWEEN THE LEFT AND RIGHT LANDING GEAR. THIS CAUSED ONE OF THE LEFT TIRE TO POP, RESULTING IN A ROLL TO THE LEFT AND SUBSEQUENT ABRUPT STOP AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR26LA175](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR26LA175), May 2, 2026: Cosmos Phase II (N145W), Prineville, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inability to maintain directional control during the landing roll due to a flat tire.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
