THE WEATHER WAS VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS (VMC) WITH A WIND FROM APPROXIMATELY 220 DEGREES AT 11 KNOTS REPORTED AT KHYA. THE AIRCRAFT CAME IN TO LAND ON RUNWAY 24. ACCORDING TO THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND (PIC), EVERYTHING LOOKED NORMAL UNTIL TOUCHDOWN WHEN THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED AND THEN BEGAN TO PORPOISE. THE PIC STATED THAT SHE GROUND LOOPED THE AIRCRAFT AND THE AIRCRAFT FELL OVER ON ITS NOSE. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST UPSIDE DOWN ON THE RIGHT-HAND EDGE OF RUNWAY 24 APPROXIMATELY 1200 FEET DOWN THE RUNWAY.

THE DAMAGES OBSERVED WERE AS FOLLOWS:

•	THE LEADING EDGES ON THE RIGHT AND LEFT WING HAD IMPACT DENTS. THE DENTS WERE APPROXIMATELY AN INCH AND HAD SCRAP MARKS MOVING BACKWARDS ON THE TOP OF THE WING.

•	TOP OF THE VERTICAL STABILATOR HAD CRUSH DAMAGE FROM THE LEADING EDGE TO THE TRAILING EDGE AS WELL AS THE TOP OF THE RUDDER.

•	THE WINDSHIELD WAS BROKEN ON THE PILOT’S SIDE. THE GLASS WAS BROKEN FROM THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD TO APPROXIMATELY 3 INCHES FROM THE BOTTOM WITH A WIDTH OF APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA26LA202](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA26LA202), May 7, 2026: Sherry Grobstein LSA-8X (N912Z), Hyannis, MA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain control of the airplane while landing, which resulted in a ground loop and subsequent nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
