## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

SUMMARY: AT PREPLANNED VR (ROTATE SPEED) OF 82 KIAS, THE PILOT IN THE RIGHT SEAT NOTICED A SMALL BIRD ENTER HIS FIELD OF VIEW FROM RIGHT TO LEFT AND ASSESSED THAT IT LIKELY HIT THE PROPELLER. THE PILOT CONTINUED THE TAKEOFF AND DEPARTURE, RETRACTING THE LANDING GEAR BUT LEAVING THE FLAPS EXTENDED TO 15 DEGREES (TAKEOFF POSITION) IN CASE THE FLAPS WERE DAMAGED. AFTER AN ASSESSMENT OF PROPELLER AND ENGINE PERFORMANCE (NOMINAL), THE PILOT MADE THE DECISION TO RETURN TO KBJC FOR A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING AND INSPECTION. APPROACH AND LANDING TO RWY 12R WERE UNEVENTFUL. POSTFLIGHT INSPECTION REVEALED EVIDENCE OF BIRDSTRIKE ON TWO PROPELLER BLADES AND THE LEADING EDGE OF THE LEFT WING (NO VISIBLE STRUCTURAL DAMAGE).

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
