## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT IN COMMAND (PIC) INITIATED A GO-AROUND AFTER AN UNSUCCESSFUL FIRST LANDING IN GUSTY WINDS.

DURING THE SECOND ATTEMPT, A SUDDEN GUST CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO PORPOISE. THE PIC COULD NOT ARREST THE DESCENT, RESULTING IN A NOSE-WHEEL AND PROPELLER STRIKE THAT STRUCTURALLY DAMAGED THE FIREWALL AND SURROUNDING FUSELAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN26LA214](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN26LA214), May 28, 2026: Cessna 182 (N2056X), Dickinson, ND, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain aircraft control during landing in gusting wind conditions which resulted in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
