## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON THE AFTERNOON OF MAY 31, 2026, AT APPROXIMATELY 4 PM, A 1990 ACRO SPORT II ATTEMPTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON ARKANSAS HIGHWAY 270 DUE TO A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN SAFELY BUT STRUCK A ROADSIDE SIGN, CAUSING THE LANDING GEAR TO COLLAPSE AND DAMAGING THE WINGS. THERE WERE TWO SOULS ON BOARD, AND THEY STEPPED AWAY WITHOUT INJURY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN26LA215](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN26LA215), May 31, 2026: Eaa Acro Sport II (N23RA), Sheridan, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s inadequate preflight inspection which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
