## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 2, 2026, AT 1230 CDT, A PIPER SARATOGA AIRCRAFT REGISTERED TO THE PILOT IN COMMAND OF THAT FLIGHT, VEERED OFF THE RUNWAY 17R OF LUBBOCK PRESTON SMITH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, LUBBOCK, TX AND STOPPED IN THE GRASS AREA BEFORE TAXIWAY B. THE TRANSPONDER ANTENNA HIT THE RUNWAY EDGE LIGHT AND CAUSED MINOR DAMAGE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS BEING OPERATED BY THE STUDENT PILOT SOLO FLIGHT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME, AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE, AND THE PILOT SUSTAINED NO INJURIES. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED FROM LUBBOCK PRESTON SMITH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT FOR ROUND TRIP SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT TO ABILENE REGIONAL AIRPORT IN ABILENE, TX ON JUNE 2, 2026 AT 9:30 CDT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
