## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRMAN ROTATED THE AIRCRAFT AT ABOUT 60 MPH. THE AIRCRAFT SUDDENLY AND ABRUPTLY TURNED TO THE LEFT.

ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY IS A SOLID TERRAIN WALL ABOUT 8 FEET HIGH. THE AIRCRAFT TURNED FAR ENOUGH TO THE LEFT (180 DEGREES) THAT THE RIGHT WING MADE CONTACT WITH THE TERRAIN WALL. THE RIGHT WING SUSTAINED DAMAGE.

THE PROPELLER HAD GREEN GRASS STAINS ON IT. THE AIRMAN SAID THE GRASS IS TALL IN THAT AREA AND THE PROPELLER WENT THROUGH THE GRASS BUT DID NOT CONTACT THE GROUND OR THE TERRAIN WALL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA26LA240](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA26LA240), Jun 5, 2026: Piper PA-22-108 (N5081Z), Westminster, MD, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain airplane control during takeoff, which resulted in a runway excursion and collision with terrain.
