## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON CLIMB OUT FROM ORD THROUGH FL210 FLIGHT DECK RECEIVED A RIGHT ENGINE FIRE INDICATION. CAPTAIN (PILOT FLYING) CALLED FOR THE ECL RIGHT ENGINE FIRE PROCEDURE. THE FIRE INDICATION EXTINGUISHED AFTER SELECTING THE FIRE ENGINE SWITCH AND DISCHARGING ONE BOTTLE OF FIRE SUPPRESSION. A MAYDAY WAS DECLARED & REQUEST TO RETURN TO ORD WAS MADE. FLIGHT LANDED SAFELY IN ORD, MET BY ARFF ON THE RUNWAY. ARFF ADVISED THAT NO EXTERNAL CONCERNS WERE OBSERVED.

WITH SUPPORT FROM PRATT & WHITNEY AND AIRBUS CANADA, THE DECISION TO CHANGE THE RIGHT ENGINE WAS MADE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
