## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 15, 2026, AN ATP-CERTIFICATED PILOT WAS CONDUCTING LANDINGS ON A DRY LAKEBED FOR THE PURPOSES OF FLIGHT SKILLS PRACTICE. THE ACCIDENT LANDING HAPPENED AT APPROXIMATELY 11:30 AM, COORDINATES 42.93383° N, 120.69115° W. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THE TOUCHDOWN WAS NORMAL, WITH A RIGHT CROSSWIND SHIFTING TO A TAILWIND; BRAKING ACTION FELT STRONG BUT NOT OUT OF THE NORM; AND AIRCRAFT CONTROL FELT NORMAL UNTIL THE WHEELS DUG INTO A SOFT SPOT. THE PILOT FURTHER PROVIDED THAT AT APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 15 KNOTS, THE WHEELS DUG INTO THE SOFT SPOT, THE AIRCRAFT PITCHED FORWARD, THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND, AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER ON ITS BACK. HE REPORTED THAT THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR26LA221](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR26LA221), Jun 15, 2026: Stoddard Hamilton Glastar (N399RS), Summer Lake, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's selection of an unsuitable landing area, which resulted in the airplane nosing over during the landing roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
