## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

08 JULY 2026, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ (C402), DECLARED AN EMERGENCY ON CLIMB OUT AFTER DEPARTING SAN JUAN (SJU), DUE TO THE CREW DOOR OPENING AND STRIKING THE RADIO ANTENNA. THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SAN JUAN AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. NO INJURIES WERE NOTED. THE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT CONSISTED OF: THE AFT CREW DOOR HINGE SEPARATING FORM THE DOOR. THE AIRCRAFT SKIN BELOW THE FORWARD CREW DOOR HINGE CRACKING. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE ABOVE THE CREW DOOR BEING DENTED. THE FORWARD RADIO ANTENNA BASE CRACKED. IT APPEARS THAT THE ANTENNA DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT. POST MAINTENANCE INSPECTION VERIFIED THE DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM WAS OPERATING PROPERLY. MAINTENANCE COULD NOT VERIFY IF THE DOOR HINGE WAS OPERATING PROPERLY DUE TO THE HINGE BEING DAMAGED. THE AIRCRAFT DAMAGE WAS CATEGORIZED AS MINOR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
