## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON CLIMB OUT FROM RUNWAY 13 AT 0GA1 AIRPORT, AT AN ALTITDUE OF ABOUT 30 FEET, THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN CROSSWIND FROM THE SOUTHWEST THAT INSTANTLY SHIFTED TO COMING FROM THE NORTHEAST AND ROLLED RIGHT IMPACTING PINE TREES ON THE SOUTHWEST SIDE ON THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT SPUN THROUGH THE TREES BEFORE IMPACTING THE GROUND AND COMING TO REST UPSIDE DOWN. THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT UNDER HIS OWN POWER AND WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL BY FAMILY MEMBERS. HE WAS FOUND TO HAVE SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES AND A CONCUSSION AND WAS RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL THE SAME DAY. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE WINGS, FUSELAGE, TAIL, AND PROPELLER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA26LA272](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA26LA272), Jul 10, 2026: Cessna 170B (N1838C), Hartwell, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to compensate for the gusty and variable wind conditions, which resulted in a loss of control and collision with trees during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
