## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT ARRIVED AT GRAND RAPIDS GERALD R. FORD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AND TAXIED TO SIGNATURE AVIATION GRR. THE PILOTS FOLLOWED THE SHUTDOWN CHECKLIST AND THE PILOT IN COMMAND STAYED ON BOARD WHILE THE SECOND-IN-COMMAND EXITED TO MEET AT CUSTOMS AND PROCEED TO THE FIXED BASED OPERATIONS. A CUSTOMS OFFICER ENTERING THE AIRCRAFT INFORMED THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND THAT THE LEFT-HAND ENGINE HAS VISIBLE SIGNS OF FIRE COMING FROM THE TAIL CONE. THE PIC ORDERED AN EVACUATION AND SHUT DOWN THE AIRCRAFTS APU AND BATTERIES AND EXITED TO INSPECT THE TAIL CONE. THE SIC, UNAWARE OF THE FIRE, ENTERED THE AIRCRAFT AND THE PIC INFORMED HIM TO "BLOW THE FIRE BOTTLE FOR THE LEFT ENGINE." THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED AND AIRPORT OPERATIONS WAS CONTACTED AND DISPATCHED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PROCEEDED TO OPEN THE COWLINGS TO CONFIRM NO FIRE WAS PRESENT AND EXTIGUISHED. THE FIRE WAS CONFIRMED OUT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
