## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT APPROXIMATELY 15:19 ON JULY 20/2026, THE INCIDENT AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER DUE TO FUEL EXHAUSTION APPROXIMATELY 5 NM EAST OF ELKINS - RANDOLPH COUNTY REGIONAL AIRPORT (KEKN). THE PILOT ELECTED TO LAND ON U.S. HIGHWAY 33. UPON LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A SIGN WITH THE LEFT WINGTIP. THE PILOT INSPECTED THE AIRCRAFT AND FOUND THAT THE RIGHT WING FUEL CAP WAS NOT SECURED AND WAS HANGING BY ITS CHAIN LANYARD. THE STAFF FROM (KEKN) BROUGHT 20 GALLONS OF GASOLINE AND PUT IT IN THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT THEN PERFORMED A GROUND RUN-UP, DEPARTED THE HIGHWAY, AND LANDED AT KEKN.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
