## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, A CESSNA 182 DEPARTED KTTA ON A POST MAINTENANCE FLIGHT FOR FUEL CELL BLADDER WORK. WHEN ON RETURN TO KTTA, THE PILOT DISCOVERED THAT THE NOSE LANDING GEAR WOULD NOT EXTEND. THE PILOT CONTACTED MAINTENANCE AND FLEW IN THE PATTERN TO TROUBLESHOOT THE GEAR ISSUE. WHEN ALL ATTEMPTS FAILED, THE PILOT DECIDED TO LAND AT KRDU DUE TO ARFF SERVICES AVAILABLE ON SITE. THE PILOT LANDED ON RUNWAY 23L WITH NOSE LANDING GEAR RETRACTED AND CAME TO A CONTROLLED STOP. DAMAGE WAS CONFINED TO THE PROPELLERS BLADE TIPS AND NOSE LANDING GEAR DOORS AND ENGINE BELLY PAN SURFACES. MAINTENANCE RAISED THE NOSE AND TRIED TO DROP THE NOSE GEAR. THE LANDING GEAR DOORS WERE JAMMED CLOSED AND HAD TO BE FORCED OPEN. THE GEAR EXTENDED WITHOUT ANY BINDING OR DRAGGING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
