## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING DESCENT THE INSTRUCTOR PILOT AND STUDENT REPORT LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. THE CREW RESTARTED ENGINE WHICH SPUTTERED, DID NOT MAKE POWER AND DIED. WIND GUST FROM ADJACENT CANYON TERRAIN RESULTED IN DIMISHED GLIDE DISTANCE FORCING THE CREW TO LAND ON A ROAD IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. VIDEO EVIDENCE REFLECTS AUDIO OF THE ENGINE SPUTTERING. EYE WITNESS STATES THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT MAKE ANY SOUND OVERHEAD WHEN THEY SAW IT JUST PRIOR TO LANDING. HARD LANDING WITH THE AIRCRAFT COMING TO REST INVERTED. FIREFIGHTERS ON SCENE TOOK VIDEO AND REPORT SEEING FUEL DRAINING FROM THE WING. INSTRUCTOR SUSTAINED SEVERE HEAD INJURIES. PENDING NTSB INVESTIGATION OF AIRCRAFT.
