## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS LANDING ON RUNWAY 27 AND STRUCK A DEER WITH THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR, WHICH SNAPPED OFF. HE THEN PERFORMED A GO-AROUND MANEUVER. ON THE SECOND LANDING ATTEMPT ON RUNWAY 27 WITH ONLY THE LEFT MAIN GEAR IN PLACE, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE RIGHT AFTER TOUCHDOWN AND STRUCK A TAXIWAY SIGN MARKED A3, CAUSING THE LEFT MAIN GEAR TO DETACH. THE AIRPLANE CAME TO REST ON ITS BELLY IN THE GRASS APPROXIMATELY 150 FEET NORTH OF THE RUNWAY, BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND PARALLEL TAXIWAY A, POINTED IN A NORTHWESTERLY DIRECTION. BOTH PROPELLER BLADES HAD CONTACTED A FOREIGN OBJECT; ONE BLADE WAS SCUFFED, AND THE OTHER WAS BENT REARWARD AT AN OBTUSE ANGLE TOWARD THE COCKPIT. SOME DAMAGE TO THE INBOARD LEFT FLAP WAS NOTED.

PRIMARY FLIGHT CONTROLS CONTINUITY CHECK WAS GOOD. THE AIRCRAFT HAD CURRENT REGISTRATION WAS ON BOARD; HOWEVER, IT DID NOT HAVE A CURRENT AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE, OPERATING LIMITATIONS, OR A CURRENT WEIGHT AND BALANCE SHEET.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN26LA291](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN26LA291), Aug 3, 2026: Vans RV8 (N412CV), Linden, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The collision with a deer during touch-and-go landings.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
