## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT AND PHOTOGRAPHER FLEW APPROXIMATELY FOUR HOURS THEN LANDED FOR A BREAK. ONE HOUR INTO THE SECOND FLIGHT THE LEFT AILERON DETACHED AT THE OUTER CONNECTION POINT AND POINTED DOWNWARD. WITH CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT DIFFICULT, THE PILOT CHOSE TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN THE SOYBEAN FIELD BELOW. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN IN THE FIELD AND ROLLED NEARLY THREE HUNDRED FEET WHERE THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE SOIL CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER THE NOSE AND COME TO REST INVERTED. BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL AND RELEASED; THE PHOTOGRAPHER SUFFERED MILD ABRASIONS TO HIS ARMS AND PILOT-IN-COMMAND WAS TREATED FOR SHOCK.
