## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT FLEW FROM SANDPOINT (KSZT) TO JOSEPH (KJSY) FOR A FUEL STOP. WHILE ON FINAL APPROACH NOTICED THE WINDS WERE FAVORING A HEAVY CROSSWIND AND DECIDED TO ABORT THE LANDING AND GO AROUND. PILOT FLEW TO NEARBY ENTERPRISE AIRPORT (8S4) WHERE THE WINDS WERE WORSE THAN JOSEPH AND HE EXECUTED A SECOND GO AROUND. PILOT EVALUATED WEATHER AT OTHER AIRPORTS IN THE VICINITY AND FOUND UNFAVORABLE WINDS AND CEILINGS AT THOSE AIRPORTS AS WELL. PILOT RETURNED TO JOSEPH AND WINDS WERE NOW SHOWING 330 AT 7 KNOTS AS REPORTED ON THE METAR AND HE ATTEMPTED TO LAND. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO MAKE A SUCCESFUL LANDING ON RUNWAY 33 AND AS HE WAS EXITING THE RUNWAY, THE WINDS SHIFTED TO A QUARTERING TAILWIND AND FORCED THE TAIL TO THE LEFT CAUSING THE AIRPLANE TO GROUND LOOP. THE AIRPLANE LEFT THE RUNWAY AND INTO THE DIRT INFIELD WHERE THE RIGHT GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE RIGHT WING AND PROP STRUCK THE GROUND CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE. THE PILOT WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT ONBOARD AND WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
