DURING A SOUTHEAST DEPARTURE FROM A REMOTE UNIMPROVED AIRSTRIP NEAR ARCTIC VILLAGE, THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL ON THE TAKEOFF ROLL. AS THE TAIL LIFTED, THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR STRUCK A HOLE IN THE TUNDRA, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER ABRUPTLY TO THE RIGHT RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR, AIRFRAME, AND RIGHT WING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC26LA099](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC26LA099), Aug 31, 2026: Maule M-5-210C (N420KB), Venetie, AK, substantial damage, investigation ongoing

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
