## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SEPTEMBER 7, 2026, AT APPROXIMATELY 02:39 AM LOCAL TIME, AIRCRAFT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, AN AMATEUR BUILT, THRP T211 SP E, LOST ENGINE POWER AND CRASHED IN BENSON ARIZONA.

THE OWNER/PILOT OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS THE ONLY OCCUPANT AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. THE PILOT SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURY AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO A TUCSON HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT.

DURING AN INTERVIEW WITH THE PILOT, HE STATED THAT HE HAD CONCERNS ABOUT THE FUEL LEVEL BEING ENOUGH TO REACH THE INTENDED DESTINATION OF LORDSBURG NEW MEXICO. THE PILOT MADE THE DECISION TO DIVERT TO WILCOX AZ., BUT AFTER LANDING SAFELY HE FOUND THAT THERE WAS NO FUEL AVAILABLE AFTER HOURS. CALCULATING THE REMAINING FUEL ON BOARD, THE PILOT DETERMINED HE COULD MAKE IT TO BENSON AZ. AS THE PILOT WAS PREPARING TO DESCEND INTO BENSON AIRPORT, HE LOST ENGINE POWER AND WAS FORCED TO LOCATE A SUITABLE PLACE TO LAND. THE PILOT STATED THAT THIS PARTICULAR AIRCRAFT DOES NOT GLIDE WELL WITH NO ENGINE POWER.

AFTER INSPECTING THE WRECKAGE, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE LOST POWER DUE TO FUEL STARVATION.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
