## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, THE PIC OF ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, LEFT KSUN AROUND 0900 AND LANDED AT KBZN AROUND 1100 LOCAL TIME ON 9/14/2026. ENROUTE WEATHER WAS VFR/CLEAR WITH NO TURBULENCE. HE CLAIMS TO HAVE HAD PLENTY OF SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE. HE WAS THE ONLY PERSON ONBOARD AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING DISTRACTING HIM WHEN HE LANDED AT KBZN. WHEN CLEARED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 30, HE REMEMBERED ATC STATING WINDS WERE 20KNOTS GUSTING UP TO 25 KNOTS, WHICH GAVE HIM A QUARTERING CROSSWIND. HE STATED “AFTER I TOUCHED DOWN AND DECELERATED, THE AIRPLANE WANTED TO YAW INTO THE CROSSWIND AND I LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL. I, UNINTENTIONALLY, EXITED RWY 30 TO MY LEFT AT ABOUT A 45-DEGREE ANGLE. MY TAIL HIT A TAXI DIRECTIONAL SIGN AND BENT THE TAILWHEEL. I HEARD IT HIT BUT WAS ABLE TO TAXI ACROSS THE GRASS ONTO A TAXIWAY AND SHUT DOWN. I HAVE BEEN A PILOT FOR 50 YEARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE PUT A SCRATCH ON A PLANE."

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
