## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- In flight collision with object, takeoff - initial climb
  - terrain condition - soft (contributing factor)
  - judgment - poor, pilot in command (cause)
  - terrain condition - snow covered (contributing factor)
  - unsafe/hazardous condition warning - issued, pilot in command (cause)
  - aborted takeoff - not performed, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

THE PILOT UTILIZED A SOFT FIELD TECHNIQUE AND COMMENCED HIS TAKEOFF FROM THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD. DURING TAKEOFF RUN HE OBSERVED THE RUNWAY END MARKERS AND ELECTED TO PUT DOWN FULL FLAPS. THE AIRCRAFT BECAME AIRBORNE JUST BEFORE COLLIDING WITH THE END MARKER AND SUBSEQUENTLY SETTLING INTO TREES LOCATED OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY. RESEARCH REVEALED THAT A NOTAM, INITIATED BY THE PILOT, HAD BEEN IN EFFECT 5 DAYS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT WHICH CLOSED THE RUNWAY UNTIL CONDITIONS IMPROVED.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19820429014039A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19820429014039A), Apr 29, 1982: Cessna 207, New Stuyahok, AK, Substantial damage. Tried to depart on snow covered runway. Struck end marker and trees on liftoff. Runway notamed closed.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
