WHILE ON FINAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 03 THE PILOT OBSERVED AN "X" ON THE END OF THE RUNWAY THE PILOT ATTEMPTED A LANDING OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND COLLIDED WITH THE VISUAL APPROACH SLOPE INDICATOR (VASI). THE PILOT STATED THAT THE "X" ON THE RUNWAY MEANT THAT HE COULD NOT LAND ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND COULD HAVE LANDED THE LEFT SIDE. The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19820719030529A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19820719030529A), Jul 19, 1982: Cessna 182P, Ft Yukon, AK, Substantial damage. Aircraft struck VASI during landing flare.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
