## Analysis

THE PLT SELECTED A PROPOSED LANDING SITE ADJACENT TO A LAKE, & AFTER 4 OR 5 LOW PASSES DECIDED TO "DRAG" THE SITE BY ROLLING THE MAIN GEAR ON THE GROUND TO DETERMINE ITS SUITABILITY FOR A LANDING. THE PLT INTENDED TO MARK THE GROUND WITHTHE ACFT TIRES & THEN CIRCLE THE SITE & MAKE A FINAL DETERMINATION. AS THE PLT STARTED TO DRAG THE SITE & THE ACFT SETTLED INTO THE GRASS, THE TIRES CONTACTED ABOUT 3 INCHES OF STANDING WATER & THE ACFT FLIPPED OVER.

- [Accident 19820822042569A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19820822042569A), Aug 22, 1982: Bbavia 8GCBC, Minchumina, AK, Substantial damage. Pilot dragging landing area when aircraft tires entered water that was hidden by grass and flipped inverted.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
