- In flight collision with object, go-around (vfr)
  - weather condition - gusts (contributing factor)
  - airspeed - misjudged, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

THE ACFT COLLIDED WITH TREES AND STALLED INTO THE GROUND DURING A GO-AROUND. THE PLT STATED THAT THE ACFT WAS USING UP A LOT OF RWY DURING THE LANDING SO HE INITIATED A GO-AROUND. HE ADDED FULL POWER BUT WAS UNABLE TO GAIN ENOUGH ALTITUDE TO CLEAR THE TREES. BOTH WINGS MADE CONTACT WITH THE TREES BUT THE PILOT MANAGED TO KEEP THE WINGS LEVELUNTIL GROUND CONTACT. WIND WAS GUSTING TO 25 KTS.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19830522025309A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830522025309A), May 22, 1983: Piper PA28151, Big Lake, AK, Substantial damage. Pilot delayed go around and aircraft crashed into trees at departure end of runway.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
