## Probable cause

THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND'S FAILURE TO MAINTAIN ADEQUATE FLYING SPEED.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, takeoff - initial climb
  - touch-and-go - performed, pilot in command
  - airspeed - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - stall/spin - inadvertent, pilot in command
- In flight collision with terrain/water, takeoff - initial climb

## Analysis

THE PILOT WAS ON THE INITIAL CLIMB OF HIS THIRD TOUCH-AND-GO WHEN THE AIRPLANE PULLED UP AND STALLED AND SPUN TO THE GROUND. WITNESSES NEAR THE CRASH SITE STATED THAT THE AIRPLANE ROCKED ITS WINGS LEFT AND RIGHT JUST BEFORE SPINNING TO THE GROUND.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19900612019899A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900612019899A), Jun 12, 1990: Tcraft BC12D, Fairbanks, AK, Destroyed, 2 fatal. Slow on climbout from touch and go. Stalled crashed and burned.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
