## Probable cause

PILOT-IN-COMMAND'S FAILURE TO PROPERLY SURVEY THE LANDING AREA AND ENSURE THE APPROPRIATE WIDTH FOR HIS AIRPLANE.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- On ground/water collision with object, taxi
  - unsuitable terrain or takeoff/landing/taxi area - selected, pilot in command (cause)
- Loss of control - on ground/water, taxi
  - taxispeed - excessive, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND LANDED ON A ROAD UNEVENTFULLY; HE THEN PERFORMED A HIGH SPEED TAXI TO A PARKING AREA AND DURING THE TAXI, BRUSH ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ROAD WAS STRIKING THE OUTER PORTIONS OF BOTH WINGS. THE BRUSH ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AIRPLANE STOPPED AND THE BRUSH ON THE RIGHT SIDE CAUSED THE AIRPLANE TO VEER TO THE RIGHT OFF THE ROAD.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19900515022569A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900515022569A), May 15, 1990: Cessna 150M, Chakachamna, AK, Substantial damage. Wing caught in tall brush on edge of road and swung aircraft into ditch during high speed back taxi after landing.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
