## Probable cause

THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND'S FAILURE TO MAINTAIN FLYING SPEED.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- On ground/water collision with object, takeoff - roll/run
  - terrain condition - hidden obstruction(s) (contributing factor)
- Loss of control - in flight, approach - vfr pattern - final approach
  - stall - inadvertent, pilot in command (cause)
- In flight collision with terrain/water, descent - uncontrolled

## Analysis

DURING TAKEOFF ON A MINING STRIP, THE AIRPLANE STRUCK A LARGE RUBBER TIRE LYING AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE LANDING GEAR WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED AND THE PILOT ELECTED TO FLY TO COLDFOOT FOR HIS EMERGENCY LANDING. DURING THE APPROACH TO COLDFOOT AND ON SHORT FINAL, THE PILOT STALLED THE AIRPLANE AND CRASHED ON THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
