## Probable cause

INADEQUATE COMPENSATION FOR WIND CONDITION.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- On ground/water encounter with weather, takeoff - roll/run
  - weather condition - gusts
  - wind information - unavailable, pilot in command (contributing factor)
- Loss of control - on ground/water, takeoff - roll/run
  - compensation for wind conditions - inadequate, pilot in command (cause)
- Dragged wing,rotor,pod,float or tail/skid, takeoff - roll/run

## Analysis

THE AIR TAXI PILOT STATED THAT JUST AS THE FLOATPLANE WAS GETTING ON THE STEP DURING THE TAKEOFF RUN, A GUST OF WIND LIFTED THE AIRPLANE INTO THE AIR. THE WIND THEN DISSIPATED CAUSING THE AIRPLANE TO STALL, ROLL TO THE RIGHT, AND HIT THE WATER.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19900902044029A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900902044029A), Sep 2, 1990: Cessna U206G, Twin Hills, AK, Substantial damage. Wind gust lifted floatplane on the step into air on takeoff then quit dropping aircraft wing down into water.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
