## Probable cause

WAS THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND'S LOSS OF CONTROL DURING THE TAKEOFF RUN, THEREBY ALLOWING THE AIRPLANE TO STRAY FROM THE RUNWAY'S CENTERLINE AND TO STRIKE SOME HIGH VEGETATION.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, takeoff - roll/run
  - proper alignment - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
- On ground/water collision with object, takeoff - roll/run

## Analysis

ACCORDING TO THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND, HE STARTED HIS TAKE OFF RUN TO THE EAST AND WAS AWARE OF THE DOG LEG IN THE RUNWAY. HE NEGOTIATED THE DOG LEG IN THE RUNWAY. HE NEGOTIATED THE DOG LEG, A 10 TO 15 DEGREE TURN TO THE RIGHT, AND THE AIRPLANE CONTINUED TO THE RIGHT DESPITE HIS PEDAL CORRECTIONS, UNTIL IT STRUCK SOME HIGH VEGETATION.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19910630025689A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910630025689A), Jun 30, 1991: Piper PA18150, Delta Junctin, AK, Substantial damage. Failed to maintain directional control departing mining strip. Ran in bushes and ground looped. Rudder checked ok.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
