## Probable cause

ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO FUEL EXHAUSTION, THE PILOT'S INADEQUATE PREFLIGHT PLANNING AND THE UNSUITABLE TERRAIN. CONTRIBUTING TO THE ACCIDENT WAS THE PILOT'S LACK OF TOTAL EXPERIENCE.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of engine power(total) - nonmechanical, descent - emergency
  - fluid,fuel - exhaustion (cause)
  - preflight planning/preparation - inadequate, pilot in command (cause)
  - lack of total experience, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - refueling - not performed, pilot in command
- Forced landing, descent - emergency
- Nose over, landing - flare/touchdown
  - terrain condition - none suitable (cause)

## Analysis

THE PILOT EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE FAILURE DURING CRUISE FLIGHT. THE AIRPLANCE NOSED OVER WHEN THE FORCED LANDING WAS MADE ON AN UNPREPARED TERRAIN. NO FUEL WAS FOUND IN THE AIRPLANE'S FUEL TANKS OR SYSTEM. AFTER ADDING FUEL, THE ENGINE STARTED AND RAN NORMALLY.
