## Probable cause

THE PILOT FAILED TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL DURING THE LANDING ROLL.

## Analysis

DURING THE LANDING ROLL, THE PILOT WAS RETRACTING THE FLAPS WHEN THE NOSE OF THE AIRPLANE SUDDENLY VEERED TO THE RIGHT. THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL WHEN THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE LEFT WING CONTACTED THE SURFACE. THE AIRPLANE CONTINUED TO TURN TO THE RIGHT AND CAME TO REST 180 DEGREES FROM THE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - ground loop/swerve, pilot in command (contributing factor)
- On ground/water encounter with terrain/water, landing - roll
  - airport facilities,runway/landing area condition - runway
