## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S FAILURE TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL, AND HIS INADEQUATE REMEDIAL ACTION.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - remedial action - inadequate, pilot in command (cause)
- Dragged wing,rotor,pod,float or tail/skid, landing - roll

## Analysis

THE PILOT OF THE PIPER PA-22 HAD TROUBLE MAINTAINING DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AFTER TOUCHDOWN, AND DID NOT TAKE ADEQUATE REMEDIAL ACTION TO KEEP THE AIRCRAFT FROM GROUND LOOPING AND DRAGGING A WING.

- [Accident 19920521015609A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920521015609A), May 21, 1992: Piper PA22150, Mcgrath, AK, Substantial damage. Ground looped and dragged a wing during landing roll in the tail wheel aircraft.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
