## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S DELAYED REMEDIAL ACTION, AND AN INADVERTENT STALL. FACTORS INCLUDE WIND GUSTS AND A WIND SHEAR.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, takeoff - initial climb
  - stall - inadvertent, pilot in command (cause)
  - weather condition - windshear (contributing factor)
  - weather condition - gusts (contributing factor)
- In flight collision with terrain/water, descent - uncontrolled

## Analysis

THE PILOT OF THE EXPERIMENTAL RANS S-7 ENCOUNTERED A WIND SHEAR DURING HIS INITIAL CLIMBOUT. DURING THIS ENCOUNTER THE PILOT ALLOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO STALL, RESULTING IN AN UNCONTROLLED DESCENT INTO THE TERRAIN.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19920703023559A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920703023559A), Jul 3, 1992: Amtr RANSS9, Big Lake, AK, Substantial damage. Stalled on climbout from remote strip. Blames windshear. Other pilots reported windshear in area.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
