## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Airframe/component/system failure/malfunction, cruise - normal
  - hydraulic system,line - chafed (cause)
  - gear extension - not possible, pilot in command (cause)
  - fluid,hydraulic - leak (cause)
  - landing gear, emergency extension assembly - inoperative (cause)
- Complete gear collapsed, landing - flare/touchdown
  - wheels up landing - intentional, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

THE ACFT WAS INTENTIONALLY LANDED WHEELS UP AFTER THE LANDING GEAR EXTENSION SYSTEMS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE RT AILERON CONTROL CABLE HAD CHAFFED A HOLE IN THE MAIN LANDING GEAR HYDRAULIC LINE CAUSING A HYDRAULIC LEAK THAT DEPLETED THE GEAREXTENSION SYSTEM OF FLUID. WITHOUT THIS FLUID THE GEAR COULD NOT BE EXTENDED. EXAMINATION REVEALED THE LINE HAD BEEN INSTALLED SLIGHTLY OUT OF POSITION. THE LOCATION OF THE CHAFE POINT WAS SUCH THAT VISUAL DETECTION WAS VERY DIFFICULT.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19830411015359A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830411015359A), Apr 11, 1983: Cessna 210F, Brunswick, GA, Substantial damage. Pilot made gear up landing due to hydraulic line leak caused by aileron cable chafing line.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
