THE FBO CONTINUED TO RENT ACFT FOR OPERATIONS FROM THE ARPT. THE PLT DEPARTED ON A 28 MI FLT FOR DINNER. THOUGH HE WAS AWARE THAT THE RWY WAS CLOSED & THE ARPT LIGHTS WOULD NOT BE OPERATING, HE ATTEMPTED TO LAND AT 2215 EDT. THE ACFT'S LANDING LIGHT WAS INOP. DURING THE LANDING FLARE, THE CESSNA COLLIDED WITH A DISABLED ACFT (A PIPER PA-31). THE PA-31 HAD BEEN LANDED AT THE UNLIGHTED ARPT & ITS NOSE WHEEL COLLAPSED WHEN IT STRUCK THE DITCH.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19861008048689A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19861008048689A), Oct 8, 1986: Cessna 172P, East Liverpool, OH, Substantial damage. The aircraft hit N4043C which was disabled on the unlit, closed runway. Construction was not properly marked.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
