## Probable cause

The collapse of the left main landing gear which resulted in the pilot's failure to maintain directional control.

## Findings

## Sequence of events

The events NTSB coded, in order, by phase of flight. The defining event best describes what happened.

## Analysis

The private pilot was landing when he used right rudder to correct for drift and inadvertently applied uneven right braking. The left main gear on the experimental amateur built airplane then collapsed causing the left wing and the propeller to strike the runway. There was substantial damage to the left wing, but no injuries to the solo pilot.

## Factual narrative

The private pilot was landing the homebuilt airplane when he used right rudder to correct for drift, and he inadvertently applied uneven right braking. Shortly thereafter, the left main gear then collapsed causing the left wing and the propeller to strike the runway. There was substantial damage to the left wing, but no injuries to the solo pilot.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
