## Sequence of events

The events NTSB coded, in order, by phase of flight. The defining event best describes what happened.

- [Approach-VFR pattern base: Collision during takeoff/land](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb-events/490) (defining event); cases with it: [Braden James L COZY CUB, 1 case](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb-events/490/sequence.md?model=056183C), [All aircraft, 1,309 cases](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb-events/490/sequence.md)

## Analysis

The pilot was on final approach to land when the airplane collided with power lines and impacted terrain. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the wings and fuselage and the pilot was seriously injured. When interviewed, the pilot stated he had no recollection of the accident. A witness reported the airplane was flying low and was in a left bank when it struck the power line. The witness thought the engine was running and the propeller was spinning at the time of the collision. A postaccident examination did not reveal any mechanical anomalies that would have precluded normal operations. The pilot did not return a completed NTSB Accident/Incident Report form 6120.1/2.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
