## Factual narrative

On September 15, 2002, at 1900 central daylight time, a Cessna 172P, N54091, operated as a rental airplane, was substantially damaged during a landing overrun on runway 08R (2,272 feet by 33 feet, asphalt) at Sylvania Airport, Sturtevant, Wisconsin. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The 14 CFR Part 91 personal flight was not operating on a flight plan. The private rated pilot was uninjured. The local flight originated at 1855.

Inspection of the runway revealed skid marks 300 feet in length followed by slash marks which were spaced about 8 inches apart in the last 800 feet of the runway. The pilot accumulated a total flight time of 91 hours.

The National Transportation Safety Board or Federal Aviation Administration did not receive a 6120.1/2 Pilot/Operator Accident report from the pilot.
