## Analysis

THE PILOT WAS MAKING HIS FIRST FLIGHT SINCE A SPECIAL AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE WAS ISSUED. THIS AIRCRAFT WAS UNIQUE IN THAT THE ROTOR CONTROLS WERE CABLE INSTEAD OF PUSH-PULL RODS. THE AIRCRAFT AFTER TAKEOFF STARTED PITCHING UP AND DOWN. THIS PITCHING CONTINUED ON DOWNWIND LEG. THE RUDDER, VETTICAL STABILIZER AND TIPS OF THE WOODEN PROPELLER BEGAN SEPARATING WHEN THE ROTOR ASSEMBLY CONTACTED THE PROPELLER. THE AIRCRAFT NOSED OVER AND TUMBLED TO GROUND.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19820704032889A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19820704032889A), Jul 4, 1982: Amtrbx BENSENB8M, Kankakee, IL, Destroyed. Gyroplane began porpoising on first flight. Unloaded rotors struck the propeller. Autogyro dived to the ground.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
