## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of engine power(total) - mech failure/malf, cruise - normal
  - electrical system,alternator - loose (cause)
  - engine assembly,other - jammed (cause)
- Forced landing, descent - emergency
- In flight collision with object, landing - flare/touchdown
  - object - tree(s) (contributing factor)

## Analysis

WHILE FLYING OVER A WOODED TERRAIN, THE ENG LOST POWER. THE PLT SELECTED AN AREA WITH THE LEAST AMOUNT OF TREES FOR A FORCED LANDING. DURING THE LANDING, THE RIGHT WING TIP HIT A TREE & PLANE CRASHED. AN EXAM OF THE ENG REVEALED THAT THE ALTERNATOR BELT HAD COME LOOSE & JAMMED BETWEEN THE RING GEAR & THE STARTER HOUSING, THUS STOPPING THEENG.

## Other investigations on N597HJ (2)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI99LA021](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI99LA021), Oct 30, 1998: Jordan Acey Deucy P70 (N597HJ), Ava, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's attempted operation of the airplane with known deficiencies, and his not obtaining control of the airplane in flight. A factor was asymmetrical ailerons.
- [NTSB CHI84LA036](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI84LA036), Nov 3, 1983: Jordan Acey Deucy (N597HJ), Chesaning, MI, substantial damage

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
