## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- In flight collision with object, takeoff - initial climb
  - judgment - poor, pilot in command (cause)
  - performance data - disregarded, pilot in command (cause)
  - weather condition - high density altitude (contributing factor)
  - weather condition - tailwind (contributing factor)
  - object - wire,transmission

## Analysis

PLT ATTEMPTED TAKEOFF ON 1100 FT OF REMAINING RWY WITH A 5 KT TAILWIND. ACFT BECAME AIRBORNE BUT WAS UNABLE TO CLEAR POWER LINES LOCATED 1000 FT BEYOND THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RWY. DENSITY ALT AT TIME OF ACCIDENT WAS CALCULATED TO BE 3600 FT. WITH THESE CONDITIONS, PERFORMANCE MANUALS INDICATE A DISTANCE OF 2500 FT WOULD BE REQUIRED TO CLEAR A 50 FT OBSTACLE.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19840806037689A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19840806037689A), Aug 6, 1984: Piper PA28140, Lebanon, OH, Destroyed. Tried to takeoff on last 1100 feet of runway at gross on a hot day. Hit wires 1000 feet off runway. Needed 3600 ft.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
