## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, maneuvering
  - airspeed(vyse) - improper, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - proper altitude - not selected, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - aerobatics - performed, pilot in command
  - stall/spin - intentional, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - level off - improper, pilot in command (cause)
  - lack of total experience in type operation, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - aircraft handling - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - stall/spin - inadvertent
- In flight collision with terrain/water, descent - uncontrolled

## Analysis

WITNESSES OBSERVED ACFT PERFORMING AEROBATICS DURING DEMO FLIGHT PRIOR TO PROSPECTIVE SALE OF ACFT TO BUYER/PAX. A PLT/WITNESS OBSERVED THE ACFT EXECUTING SLOW SPEED STALLS AND ENTER A SPIN FROM AN ALTITUDE OF ABOUT 1000 FT. RECOVERY WAS ACCOMPLISHED AT ABOUT 500 FT AGL. WITHOUT REGAINING ALTUTUDE, THE ACFT FLEW ABOUT A MILE IN LEVEL FLIGHT AND THEN ENTERED A LEFT SPIN. RECOVERY AT ABOUT 200 FT AGL SEEMED TO BE IN PROGRESS BUT AS THE ACFT ATTITUDE CAME TO LEVEL FLIGHT, THE NOSE PITCHED UP AND THE ACFT RE-ENTERED A LEFT SPIN TO GROUND IMPACT. INVESTIGATION REVEALED NO EVIDENCE OF FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION IN THE ACFT STRUCTURE, POWER PLANT OR SYSTEMS.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19841020057309A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19841020057309A), Oct 20, 1984: Tcraft BC12D, Kiel, WI, Destroyed, 1 fatal. Low level spins and recovery. On third spin, impacted ground at a 60 degree nose down attitude.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
