THE ACFT COLLIDED WITH POWER LINES WHILE ON FINAL APPROACH FOR A LANDING. THE PASSENGER RELATED THAT THE SUN WAS VERY LOW ON THE HORIZON, AND WHILE LOOKING TOWARD THE SUN & HAZE, THE VISIBILITY WAS LIMITED. AS THE ACFT TURNED ON FINAL APPROACH, A LARGE FLOCK OF BIRDS FLEW IN FRONT THE PLANE. THE PLT DOVE THE ACFT TO MISS THE BIRDS & THE PASSENGER FELT THIS MANEUVER PUT THE ACFT LOW ON FINAL APPROACH. HE STATED THAT NEITHER HE NOR THE PLT SAW THE POWER LINES UNTIL JUST PRIOR TO IMPACT. A TOXICOLOGICAL EXAM OF THE PLT'S BLOOD SHOWED A BLOOD/ALCOHOL LEVEL OF 0.109%.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19841125062969A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19841125062969A), Nov 25, 1984: Univar 415C, Wixom, MI, Destroyed. Ducked under birds, low on final, hit powerlines. Pilot intoxicated by alcohol, cannabinoids in urine.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
