## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S EXCESSIVE ROTATION, WHICH RESULTED IN AN INADVERTENT MUSHED STALL AND COLLISION WITH TREES.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Abrupt maneuver, takeoff
  - terrain condition - soft
  - rotation - improper, pilot in command (cause)
  - stall/mush - inadvertent, pilot in command (cause)
- In flight collision with object, takeoff
  - object - tree(s)
  - altitude - not attained

## Analysis

THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TAKEOFF FROM A SOGGY SOD RUNWAY, OVERROTATED, AND DRAGGED THE TIEDOWN LOOP ON THE SURFACE SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN AIRBORNE, THE AIRPLANE GAINED ONLY 20 FEET AND SUBSEQUENTLY STRUCK A TREE OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19890605014349A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19890605014349A), Jun 5, 1989: Beech B35, Milan, MI, Destroyed. Over rotated during takeoff run. Hit tail. Porpoised, lifted, turned left into tree and crashed inverted.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
