WINDS AT NEAREST OBSERVATION FACILITY WERE 60 DEGREES OFF RUNWAY HEADING AT 15 KNOTS, GUSTING TO 22 KNOTS 25 MINUTES PRIOR; 35 MINUTES AFTER MISHAP, WINDS WERE 70 DEGREES OFF AT 18, GUSTING TO 28. DEMONSTRATED MAXIMUM CROSSWIND CAPABILITY IN THIS MODEL AIRPLANE IS 15 KNOTS.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19900603018049A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900603018049A), Jun 3, 1990: Cessna 172P, Jerseyville, IL, Substantial damage. Lost control in gusty wind during flare for landing. Swept off runway, collapsed nose gear and flipped over.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
