## Probable cause

THE PILOT ALLOWING THE AIRPLANE TO RUN OUT OF FUEL.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of engine power(total) - nonmechanical, approach
  - fuel system - exhaustion (cause)
  - fuel consumption calculations - improper, pilot in command (cause)
  - complacency, pilot in command (contributing factor)
- Forced landing, descent - emergency
- In flight collision with object, descent - emergency

## Analysis

THE ACCIDENT AIRPLANE WAS DESTROYED WHEN IT COLLIDED WITH TREES AND TERRAIN DURING A FORCED LANDING. THE BUSINESS FLIGHT HAD BEEN CLEARED FOR AN INSTRUMENT APPROACH WHEN THE AIRPLANE EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE FAILURE. INSPECTION AT THE ACCIDENT SITE SHOWED THE AIRCRAFT FUEL SYSTEM TO BE INTACT.
